Marion
C. Wagner began her creative career at the tender age of six; when her
father
saw her "paint-by-numbers" portrait of Disney's Mickey Mouse and told
her she would be a great artist someday. Since then, circumstances
enabled her to expand her artistic ability. She studied with eclectic
teachers at Onteora High School in the heart of New York State's
Catskill Mountains.
Her
Teachers emphasized the integration of music and cultural activities
into the artistic process. Throughout her teen years she was always
encouraged to express herself. The Woodstock School of Art and SUNY New
Paltz also had an imprint on her work.
Since
then, Marion has delved into a variety of mediums, (hence the name
"Diversified Art Forms"), including
hand cast and painted ceramic Suns, hand-painted rocks featuring
flowers, landscapes, popular consumer labels, and business logos.
Inspired by Mayan
heiroglyphics, one of her latest works is a Sun King made with a bead
loom. She also does custom calligraphy of family heirlooms and gifts.
Watercolor
painting remains one of her favorite mediums - themes include
landscapes, native flora/fauna, as well as mystical and imaginary
topics.
Marion
has resided all her life in the Hudson River Valley Region of New York
- she rarely has any desire to leave this picturesque and spiritual
setting in the simple hamlet of West Hurley, close to the New York City
watershed, where she raised two boys, gardens,
and practices her lifelong pursuit of art.
